Police investigating armed robbery
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating an early morning armed robbery at a gas station on South College Road.
Police say the clerk arrived at the BP Gas Station around 6 a.m. Thursday to open the store when she was approached by a male who entered the store once it was open. The suspect followed the clerk to the back of the store and told her to open the safe and that he had a gun.
The clerk was unable to open the safe and the suspect took money from the register and ran away.
Police say the suspect was a black male between 20 and 25 years old. He war wearing black jeans, a navy blue t-shirt with cut off sleeves and black sneakers (possibly VANS) with light blue laces.
The robbery is still under investigation.
