Police investigating Saturday morning shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating an early-morning shooting on Market Street Saturday.

A spokeswoman for the department said the shooting happened near the 5000 block of Market Street, near the Ramada Inn, around 2:30 a.m.

Police arrived found shell casings, but no victims. While on scene, police were notified by New Hanover Regional Medical Center that a gunshot victim was in the emergency room.

While driving to the hospital, police got a call about another victim near 8th Street. They say that man was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Police say there is no known motive for the shooting as of right now, and there is no word on the condition of the victims.
