Police: Man facing charges for stealing GoPro equipment

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are still investigating after they say a man was caught with an ‘unusual amount’ of GoPro equipment outside of a Wilmington store yesterday afternoon.

Wilmington Police say just before 2 p.m. Monday, they got a call from workers at The Great Outdoors store at 3501 Oleander Drive. That’s where they say employees followed Brandon Callahan, 34, to a vehicle after he reportedly stole items from inside.

Officers say when they located the car Callahan was spotted walking to, they found stolen GoPro equipment and other merchandise. Police say they also discovered drugs and an unusual amount of GoPro mounts, cameras and other equipment when they searched him.

Police say Callahan faces larceny charges and was booked in the New Hanover County Jail under $10,000 bond. They say some of the stolen items and equipment may have been stolen from other stores in the area, so officers are still investigating.
