Police: Man shoots at car driving by, hits porch & parked car

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating after ShotSpotter tipped them off to a drive-by shooting, where officers say witnesses watched a man fire shots at a passing vehicle.

It happened in the 800 block of Grace Street just before 8 p.m. Thursday. That’s where police say witnesses saw a tall, skinny black man in a white SUV stop at the intersection and fire two rounds at a passing vehicle.

Officers say witnesses told them the shooter’s SUV appeared to be a Tahoe or Yukon, and that the car he shot at was a dark car that looked like a Dodge Challenger or Charger.

Police say no one was hurt, but bullets hit both a vehicle parked nearby and the porch of an unoccupied home.
