Police: Man wanted in multiple ‘dine and ditch’ incidents

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Carolina Beach Police need your help finding a man wanted for leaving multiple restaurants without paying his bill.

According to a release, police received reports this past weekend from Hang Ten Grille, The Deckhouse and Michael’s Seafood in Carolina Beach that a white male wearing an orange shirt ordered food and alcohol from the restaurants and left without paying. Police say he left saying he was going outside to smoke a cigarette, but never returned.

Police say they searched the area and received a tip of a suspicious person matching the suspect’s description. The suspect was said to be driving a Nissan Pathfinder SUV. A short time later, officials say they saw the suspect driving toward Snow’s Cut Bridge on N. Lake Boulevard. Officers attempted to turn around to stop the vehicle, but the suspect was able to get through heavy traffic and fled from officers.

Warrants have been issued for Christopher Michael Britt three counts of defrauding an innkeeper and one count of fleeing to elude arrest. If you have any information, call the Carolina Beach Police or 911.
