Police: Masked men rob Wilmington hotel clerk at gunpoint

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say two masked men robbed a Wilmington hotel clerk at gunpoint Friday night.

Wilmington Police say it happened just before 7 p.m. at the Super 8 Hotel at 3604 Market Street. That’s where officers say the clerk told them he was in the back room when he heard the front door open.

When the clerk walked up to the front desk, police say two men wearing hoodies with bandannas covering their faces jumped over the counter. Officers say one of robbers pointed a gun at the clerk, demanding money.

Police say when one of the suspects asked about the hotel safe, the phone rang, and both of the robbers took off running.
