Police release traffic and safety plans for Myrtle Beach air show
Myrtle Beach, S.C. (WPDE) — Myrtle Beach police held a news conference on Wednesday to discuss the traffic and public safety plans for the Wings Over Myrtle Beach Air Show and other events happening in Market Common this weekend.
The inaugural Wings Over Myrtle Beach Air Show is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, April 28-29, at the Myrtle Beach International Airport and is expected to attract thousands of spectators to the area. And, in addition to the air show, other events are also scheduled in the Market Common area for this weekend, like the Ground Zero Dragon Boat Race and a large soccer tournament.
Because of the volume of people expected and the logistics surrounding the airshow, the Myrtle Beach Police Department has developed an operational plan “designed to keep traffic flowing and keep the public safe,” according to a news release.
The full news conference can be viewed below.
Officials are expected to issue a news release later on Wednesday detailing and illustrating the plans.
