Police say there may be more victims after man charged with break-ins


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say they have arrested a man in connection with at least four home break-ins earlier this month, and they say there could be more victims.

Detectives charged Wesley Thomas Sammons, 29, of Wilmington, with four counts of felony breaking or entering, four counts of felony larceny After breaking or entering, two counts of misdemeanor possession of stolen goods/property possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police believe Sammons broke in to several homes around the south side of Wilmington and stolen women’s jewelry. Some of the victims did not immediately realize the items had been stolen.

The NC Department of Public Safety website shows Sammons has multiple convictions since 2011 mainly for larceny, break-ins and drugs.

Detectives ask for anyone who is a victim of a similar, unreported crime to contact WPD (910) 343-3609.
