Police: Shots fired shortly after pedestrian was ‘run over’ by car
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say several shots were fired not long after a pedestrian was hit by a car in a Wilmington parking lot last night.
Wilmington Police say they got multiple calls reporting shots fired in the Best Buy parking lot at 309 S. College Road just before 9:30 p.m. That’s where officers say they discovered a domestic disturbance had happened just before a woman was “run over” by a car.
Police say shortly after the woman was hit, several shots were fired. Officers say they then found nine shell casings in the parking lot nearby while investigating. Police say they took out warrants for the arrest of Craig Griffin, 30, of Henderson, in connection to the crime.
Officers say the woman who was hit by the car was taken to the hospital for leg injuries. There’s no word yet on her condition, but WPD is investigating.
