Police: Social media spat turns into shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police said two men are facing charges related to a drive-by shooting that started as a social media argument.

A WPD spokeswoman said the incident happened Monday night before 11:30 p.m. at a home in the 700 block of Varsity Drive. She said Ryan Calvin Brinson and Christopher Alan Leonard drove to the home after a social media spat over some stolen items. She said when they drove by, they fired at a group of men standing outside, but no one was hurt.

Both Brinson and Leonard were arrested Tuesday on charges including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Brinson was booked under a $100,000 bond.
