Police identify shooting victim

WILMINGTON — Wilmington Police have identified the victim from Tuesday night’s shooting.

Twenty-three-year-old Eugene Ali Shakil Williams was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon on the corner of 12th and Chestnut Streets in downtown Wilmington.

Williams was from Wilmington. He’d been in trouble with the law before. He was convicted of larceny and possession of a controlled substance last year.

Police have not yet identified any suspects.
