Police roundup jails 70

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A major police roundup in New Hanover County has landed 70 people behind bars.

Officers from the WPD teamed up with US marshals for Operation: Zero Tolerance.

Investigators say 70 probation violators in Wilmington and New Hanover County were arrested this past week.

More than 155 warrants were served by the 30 investigators who helped out with the operation.

Investigators hope the arrests will stop many repeat offenders from committing crimes.

Investigators say many of the people arrested had drugs on them, which is another probation violation.

Many suspects also tried to run from officers.

Nobody was hurt during the operation and no suspects escaped capture.
