Police say 3 hurt after NC car wrecks at 100 mph

GREENSBORO — Police say three people have been hurt when a car going an estimated 100 mph slammed into a pickup truck on a North Carolina interstate highway.

The Greensboro News & Record reported Monday that two lanes of traffic were closed for two hours Sunday afternoon on Interstate 40/85 in Guilford County.

The Highway Patrol says the driver of a sedan lost control and hit the rear of a pickup truck, which caused the truck to spin and hit a concrete wall.

Trooper G.A. Lunsford says the occupants of the truck were treated for minor injuries at area hospitals and released.

The car driver was charged with speeding, careless and reckless driving and improper passing. The names of those involved were not released immediately.
