Poll: Clinton has large lead in New Hampshire, Romney holds GOP edge

UNDATED (AP) — Hillary Clinton leads the pack of presidential contenders in New Hampshire.

A new poll shows that 40 percent of Democratic voters surveyed in the state support for Clinton. Illinois Senator Barack Obama followed with 20 percent. John Edwards gets 12 percent and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson draws seven percent.

On the Republican side, Mitt Romney holds an edge. The poll indicates 25 percent of GOP voters in New Hampshire back him.

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani follows in a close second with 21 percent. John McCain and Fred Thompson followed with 18 and 10 percent, respectively.

Still, Giuliani is picked by more Republicans as having the best chance of winning the general election next year.

The poll was conducted by Marist College Institute for Public Opinion.
