Poll: Gas prices, public transportation top issues in NC

ELON, N.C. (AP) — A new transportation poll shows that gas prices and public transportation are the most important issues among North Carolina residents.

The poll was released Monday by Elon University’s Institute for Politics and Public Affairs.

It shows that residents support establishing new methods of transportation, such as commuter railways. But they’re opposed to most funding alternatives.

The most important transportation issue for 31 percent of those surveyed was gas prices. Another 17 percent said public transportation, while 13 percent said road conditions and 10
percent said traffic congestion.

The poll surveyed 473 people between March 10 and March 13. The margin of error is 4.5 percent.
