Poplar Grove gears up for the holidays
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – Poplar Grove is adding evening hours to its Christmas celebration. They will remain open until 9:00 p.m. during the first three weekends of December.
There will be a rendition of the Polar Express on the front lawn. On the back lawn, there will be buildings that resemble a village lined with Christmas lights.
According to a Poplar Grove news release, children can write letters to Santa, roast marshmallows, take a wagon ride, and visit with barnyard animals. There will also be special readings of classic stories, and backdrop screenings of classic movies.
Candlelight tours of the 1850 Manor House will begin in the formal parlors, where live trees will be filled with Victorian decorations. Guests will hear stories of Foy family Christmas traditions while exploring themed rooms filled with live flora and period decorations.
During the day on December 10 and 11, more than 90 arts, crafts, and gift vendors will be on site.
