Port City Highland Games returning to Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The 5th Annual Port City Highland Games will return to Wilmington on Saturday, May 30.
The daylong festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 3600 Randall Parkway.
The event celebrates Scottish heritage and will feature Highland athletics, piping and drumming, Scottish clans, Celtic music and dance, heritage organizations, food and drink, vendors and artisans. The British Motor Club of the Cape Fear Car Show will also be part of the event.
Organizers expect more than 1,500 people to attend from across the Carolinas and beyond.
“The Port City Highland Games is about more than competition,” said Catherine Fort, president of the Scottish Society of Wilmington. “It is a celebration of culture, history, music, storytelling, and community. We are especially proud that this event also supports veterans through paws4vets.”
The event benefits paws4vets, a program of paws4people Foundation.
The Games started in 2022 with a handful of clan tents and have grown to include more than two dozen clans and Scottish organizations. This year’s event will also include regional pipe bands, Highland dancers and championship-level athletic competition coordinated with the Southeastern Highland Athletic Group.
Organizers say the event also highlights the Scottish roots of the Lower Cape Fear region, dating back to the arrival of Highland Scots in the 18th century.
