Port City Proud takes donated items to Hurricane Dorian victims

NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY)– One Wilmington group is using its influence to restore what Hurricane Dorian victims in the Outer Banks lost.

Port City Proud is a group of construction and building professionals who came together after Hurricane Florence.

Co-founder, Jessica Miller says they’re collecting a variety of items including gas cans, house supplies, food, and more.

Miller says they’re taking the donated items to Ocracoke Island.

“We’ll be down this weekend and next weekend personally,” Miller said. “We are trying to get volunteers on board. People that want to caravan down. We have people to hook them up with. The island needs the help.”

Miller says you can still drop items off at Jimmy’s at Red Dogs on Wrightsville Beach or right across the street at Sweetwater Surf Shop.
