Port City Taxi driver robbed, police investigating
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Wilmington police are searching for the person who pulled a gun on a taxi driver and robbed him.
It happened just before 4:00 a.m.
Police say a taxi driver picked up a fare on Lancelot Lane, who wanted to go to Campus Cove off Randall Parkway.
The taxi driver told police the man said to pull over. They pulled into the parking lot of the old China Buffet next to the Super 8 motel. Police say the taxi driver told them the man then pulled out a gun, took money and then snatched the keys to the taxi.
The man then ran behind the restaurant and Super 8 toward Darlington Avenue.
He was described as a light skinned black male with a thin mustache, blue and brown jacket with the hood pulled tight around his head, blue jeans and black gloves, which may have been fingerless.
Police searched the area but did not find the suspect.
