Port City Chargers player to miss first game
WILMINGTON — The Port City Chargers football team is gearing up for their first-ever game tomorrow.
One player will be sitting out…
John McNeil is in New Hanover Regional Medical Center recuperating from an appendectomy.
Friday the team’s owner brought the six-foot-four wide receiver his new jersey.
The 19-year-old Laney High School graduate says getting the jersey was a welcome surprise.
McNeil said, “It feels good. I’ve been waiting for it for a long time.”
McNeil says he is still in a little pain, but he says he’ll be back to his old self in two or three days.
He says he plans on coming back to the team even stronger.
The Port City Chargers will play seven consecutive home games, starting Saturday at Ogden Park.
