Port City Java ranks in top 50 franchises

WILMINGTON — Look out Starbucks, a local coffee franchise is offering some strong competition.

Entrepreneur Magazine recently named Port City Java one of its top new franchises. The coffeehouse ranked number 31 on a list of top 50.

Port City Java began roasting right here in Wilmington in 1995. Last year sales were up more than 16 percent and it could be because of repeat customers like Denise Snyder.

Snyder said, “It’s convenient, the coffee’s great, the food’s great, and it’s a great stop off area.”

Last year, entrepreneur magazine ranked Port City Java number 38. The company was franchised in September of 2003.
