Postal service suspends mail deliveries as Hurricane Matthew arrives


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Due to Hurricane Matthew, the Mid-Carolinas District of the U.S. Postal Service has closed Post Offices and suspended mail deliveries impacted by the storm in the ZIP Code areas beginning with 284 and 285. In addition, some Post Offices and mail deliveries in the ZIP Code area beginning with 283 were also suspended.

“The safety of our employees and customers is our top priority,” said Mid-Carolina’s District Manager Sandy Wyrick. “The Postal Service’s emergency management personnel are monitoring storm conditions closely and safety concerns may necessitate additional changes. All postal operations will resume immediately once it is safe and reasonable to do so.”
