Prescribed fire scheduled for Wednesday

Weather permitting, 15 to 20 acres of Halyburton Park will go up in flames.

This is a prescribed burn. It’s scheduled in an effort to burn the undergrowth in an effort to minimize wild fires.

These controlled fires clear the area for future vegetation. The fire will be regulated by the North Carolina Forest Service and the Wilmington Fire Department.
