President Bush declares three NC counties disaster areas
President Bush has declared Brunswick and two other counties disaster areas as the result of damage caused by Tropical Storm Hanna last month.
Ocean Isle Beach was hit hard. The wind and rain ripped streets apart and caused severe erosion. The Federal Disaster Declaration allows local officials to get federal help to repair roads, bridges and beaches that Hanna damaged.
State officials estimate Hanna caused more than $14 million in damage to public infrastructure in Brunswick, Beaufort, and Person counties.
