Prom dress swap for safety

Prom season is right around the corner and the big night can be costly and dangerous. To help make the prom more affordable and less of a danger, the Cape Fear Teen Health Council is having a Prom Dress Swap and Shop.

Teens can bring in an old dress and swap it for a new one. While teens are picking out their dress almost 20 different local non-profit agencies will be there to inform them about topics ranging from substance abuse to teen pregnancy.

Cape Fear Teen Health Council Coordinator, Carlos Bryson, says it’s not too late to donate a dress to the Prom Swap. He says the Prom Swap is “helping the teenage population. It really is giving young ladies the opportunity to get a dress when they probably wouldn’t be able to get the nicest dress. Bryson says “if you have a dress in your closet and it’s just sitting there and not be used, you might as well donate it to a good cause.”

The Prom Dress Swap will be at Wilson’s Restaurant in Wilmington this Friday from 5 to 8 pm. If you do not have a dress to swap don’t worry, you can buy a dress for 20 dollars.For more information on the event or to help and donate a dress, go to capefearteen.org.
