Property manager plans to rebuild Village Plaza

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s been two weeks since the fire at Everybody’s Supermarket in Village Plaza on Greenfield Street.

The property owner says they plan on leveling everything and starting from the ground up due to all the damage. But they say the biggest issue for them right now is people are coming in and stealing items still in some of the stores, like World Beauty Supply. The property manager is demanding this to stop. Residents around the area say it’s a shame people are stealing from the store and it ruins everything the plaza offered.

“It’s not good. If anything at all, we should appreciate what had taken place over there and for the service that those stores gave and just be an honest person and do the right thing and just leave it alone,” resident Perry London said.

The city of Wilmington will inspect the location to determine if it’s a public nuisance and if so, the owner will have 15 days to start working on it.
