Property tax deadline is Monday

If you didn’t pay your property taxes by Monday you are officially late.

The deadline to pay without penalty was Monday.

If you still owe you’ll have to pay two-percent interest for the delinquent payment. That’s for the first month. The bill goes up every month your payment is late.

Tax administrator Bob Glasgow says if you know in advance you’re going to have trouble paying your taxes, set up a payment plan.

Glasgow said, “We advertise it, so they can make payments each month then bill is taken care of it.”

The tax office also calls the next few weeks a “listing period.” It’s an opportunity for you to let the tax office know if you’ve sold personal property, like a car or boat. That way, you won’t receive a tax bill for those items this year. The deadline to list these items is January 31.
