Proposed port meeting in Southport tonight

The second public meeting about the proposed port in Southport is tonight.

The meeting will include a presentation on the health risks attributed to port emissions, including data from medical studies, university reports and federal and state agencies.

No Port/Southport hopes to stop the state ports authority from building a $ 2.3 billion port on 600 acres near Southport. The first phase of the project is supposed to open in 2017.

The meeting is tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Southport Community Building.
