Prosecutor: Investigation of Wright should finish by October 1
RALEIGH (AP) — Prosecutors say they hope a criminal investigation of state Representative Thomas Wright will be done by October 1.
Wake County District Attorney Colon Willoughby says investigators met this week to discuss when they might complete their work.
A search warrant filed Monday shows investigators are looking at banking and mortgage records related to Wright.
The State Board of Elections has raised questions about whether the New Hanover County Democrat used a letter awarding a nonexistent state grant to get a mortgage.
No criminal charges have been filed against Wright, whose said he's done nothing wrong.
