Protesters gather at UNCW against HB2

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Dozens gathered today in the amphitheater at UNCW in opposition to House BIll 2, which those protesting said is discriminatory and not a good reflection on the people of North Carolina.

Students and members of the community there today said this bill not only hurts members of the LGBT community but any minority and veterans as well.

Protesters brought signs, flags, and buttons and took to Chancellors Walk to share their message with the campus.

“This is not who we are. We are not this. This is not something that we should stand for and I think that come November I think Pat McCrory will be voted out of office,” said freshman Justin Ammons.

Ammons said McCrory has had his pros and cons while in office and he believes House Bill 2 is a major con and will be the governors downfall come November.

There will be another protest tonight at the corner of College Road and Oleander Drive here in Wilmington. SOme folks at the UNCW protest said they will be attending that one as well.
