Public discussion on road closure to build ocean-front hotel in Carolina Beach
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Carolina Beach Town Council also held a public hearing to consider closing a portion of a road in order to move forward in building a hotel on the north end of the boardwalk.
Last month, council approved a “resolution of intent” to close 170’ of Carolina Beach Avenue North, where a Hampton Inn & Suites is in talks of being built. Town Manager Tim Owens says the road closure is necessary in order for the hotel to fit on the property.
Some who live on Pleasure Island say they are worried that traffic would become an issue with the road closure.
