Public sounds off on improving downtown
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The City of Wilmington is trying to figure out the best way to improve Downtown Wilmington.
So they have developed the waterfront improvement plan. Basically a sketch of some of the big projects the city would like to see accomplished over the next few years.
Tonight dozens of folks turned out to hear more about the next phase of the study setting out to determine what projects are most desirable and most feasible.
While some expressed their slight frustration at the pace of progress, others felt all in all the meeting was a success.
“So is it going fast enough? Maybe not, but you don’t want it to go too fast either. I think that we are very very fortunate to have the team that we have with the city right now, I really do,” said Doug Springer, a local business owner.
The update meeting tonight comes after several public input sessions before. All a part of the city’s “Vision 20/20” plan. Plans with an eye toward the future in Downtown Wilmington.
