Queen Azalea visits Ogden Elementary

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Queen Azalea made multiple stops today as part of her tour of Wilmington, including a morning stop to Ogden Elementary School.

The queen her court, celebrities, and festival directors enjoyed singing and dancing performances from the students. Ogden students have been learning about the history of the festival and its impact on the community, in recent weeks.

Fifth grader Jackson Minneci introduced the festival president and says it was a moment to remember.

“Soon I’m gonna get their autograph, that will be a really neat thing to have,” Minneci said. “It’s just nice to remember in life, to know that, you hosted the Azalea Festival and you had a special part in it.”

The school also held an art contest and yearbook cover contest as part of the event.
