Rain Barrel Conservation
With no significant rainfall for months, the City of Wilmington is still under mandatory water restrictions. Restrictions that are preventing people from using city water for things like watering lawns and washing cars. So to help educate and encourage the public to conserve, New Hanover County’s Soil and Water Conservation District is displaying rain barrels at Halyburton Park, barrels where homeowners can collect and store water to use outside.
After collecting gallons of free water in a rain barrel, Soil and Water Education Coordinator, Dru Harrison says you’ll see the benefits in your water bill. Year round, you can drop your water costs dramatically.
The barrel is made with one hundred percent recycled material. So this is just one more way to help the environment while helping yourself.
