Raleigh water source now full after weekend rainfall

RALEIGH (AP) — The main source of water for Raleigh is officially overflowing, but just barely.

Full for Falls Lake is 251.5 feet. The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Sunday that the lake reached 251.6 feet.

The National Weather Service reported that Raleigh received about a quarter of an inch of rain Saturday, and the city was expected to receive another one-tenth of an inch overnight.
Forecasters said the next chance of rain wouldn’t come until next Friday or Saturday.

City officials aren’t expected to ease up on current water use restrictions until today, if then. The Raleigh City Council voted to ease restrictions when the water supply portion of Falls Lake reaches 90 percent capacity. As of late March, it was at 76.6 percent.
