Rally in South Carolina as governor rejects stimulus money

Hundreds of people rallied Monday to try to change the mind of South Carolina’s governor.

School leaders said they need stimulus money that Governor Mark Sanford is about to turn down.

Both school leaders and people in the crowd called Sanford irresponsible for rejecting $700 million in federal stimulus money.

The rally came just as the crowd learned the state will start writing a budget without stimulus money factored in, meaning $150 million in education cuts.

One teacher said Sanford’s actions are worthy of impeachment.
