Rapper Nelly to headline Azalea Festival concert

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It may still be winter, but there was a big Azalea Festival announcement tonight.

Grammy Award-winner Nelly will play the Friday night concert during this spring's festival. The show is at 7 p.m. on April 10 in downtown Wilmington.

The festival has had a diverse range of musical talent in the past including Frank Sinatra, Al Green, Patti LaBelle and the Avett Brothers. Festival organizers say almost every genre has been represented except for one… until now. The multi-platinum Nelly is the first rap and hip-hop star to play at the Azalea Festival.

Tickets are $35 plus fees. There is a $2.50 discount through this weekend. The ticket price will go up by $10 the day of the concert.
