Rapper’s mother wants to help stop gun violence
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The mother of a popular rapper might be coming to Wilmington to help stop the gun violence.
Beverly Broadus Green, mother of Snoop Dogg also known as Snoop Lion, said she wants to come to the Port City this fall to talk to area kids and gangs about how important it is to make good choices in life.
Marvin Fredlaw, Green’s manager, has ties to the city and confronted her about the shootings plaguing the area.
Fredlaw says Green travels the country on missions like this so he is working with Love Center Church to make this trip possible.
Fredlaw lives in California now, but grew up in Wilmington. He said when he heard about the violence he felt obligated to do something.
“I told her I really wanted to do something about this, but I don’t know what I can do. She said ‘well I know what you can do, take me to Wilmington.’ She will be giving speeches, she will be preaching, she will personally go out and meet with gang members,” Fredlaw said.
He also added that Green plans to work with the Boys and Girls Club while she visits.
Plans are still being finalized but Fredlaw says Wilmington can expect to see the preacher in the beginning of November.
