Reach the Beach program helping others
Hundreds of teenagers from across the country are spending a week out of their summer here.
They are not here to vacation at the beach, but to revitalize some local homes.
It is all a part of an annual summer camp program called Reach the Beach.
Today, they began scraping old paint off a home in downtown Wilmington.
During their six day visit, they will do various home repair projects for elderly, disabled and low income residents.
Camper Becky Kabel said, “We come to work camps to work on different residents houses so that we can improve their house as well as enrich their lives, because many of them are lonely.”
More than 300 teens are fixing up homes all across the county as part of the Reach the Beach camp.
