Reading Aloud

A local author had the chance to read from her new book at her favorite Wilmington bookstore Sunday afternoon.

Marci Raines recently wrote “The Subise girl.”

She read selections aloud at the Old Books store on Front street.

“The Subise Girl” is a historical romance that takes place during the French revolution. It’s Raines’ first book.

Raines has lived in Wilmington for sixteen years and says her inspiration to write the novel came from poking around the Old Books store.

“This book would not have come about if I didn’t find a book here that talked about the French revolution and talked about the history behind it,” Raines said.

She added that if this book takes off, she already has plans to write a sequel.
