Recently arrested coach quiet at baseball clinic

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) — A recently arrested high school baseball coach had little to say today at a baseball clinic he organized.

Topsail High School Coach Granville Gehris took part in the second day of the Diamond Trainer Baseball Clinic at the Hampstead school.

Gehris was charged last week for assault on a female.

The 2014 state champion coach declined an on-camera interview, but Gehris did say the wheels are in motion to resolve last week’s arrest.

The school district has not commented publicly on the incident.
