Recess at the Lake returns Sunday with inaugural 5K, $5,000 donation

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Recess at the Lake returns to Greenfield Lake Amphitheater Sunday for its second year, bringing fitness, wellness and community activities to Wilmington.
The event, powered by REV Federal Credit Union, runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27.
This year’s event will feature the inaugural Recess at the Lake 5K Run and 1-Mile Fun Run & Walk. Registration also includes access to wellness activities, including yoga, fitness and strength classes.
Health and wellness vendors, a DJ, cold plunges and other activities will also be available. Well Fed Ed and Café Mata will be on site serving food and coffee.
A limited number of spots also remain for the Recess cycling experience with Recess by Bevin Prince.
REV Federal Credit Union will present a $5,000 donation to ACCESS of Wilmington during a check presentation at 9 a.m. at the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater stage.
The donation, made through REV’s UpTheGood Foundation, will support ACCESS of Wilmington’s work to make health, recreation and wellness opportunities more accessible in the community.
“We love bringing people together and building community,” said Dori Bishara, Community Engagement Coordinator at REV Federal Credit Union. “This event has sparked connection, celebrates movement, and is truly a celebration of collaboration. Recess at the Lake is about getting outside, trying something new, moving your body and having fun together — all while supporting organizations that are making a difference in our community.”
Participants can register for more than 17 wellness classes and activities, the 5K, 1-Mile Fun Run & Walk and remaining cycling spots.
Walk-up registration will also be available Sunday for a $30 donation.
