Relief concert raises more than $1.5M for storm victims

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Nearly 2,000 people came out to Greenfield Lake Amphitheater this weekend to honor first responders, local media and raise money for Hurricane Florence victims.

We now have the latest numbers on money raised.

The “Wilmington Strong” Relief Concert says they raised $500,000 in corporate sponsorships, $15,000 in cash donations, and $1,012,500 was donated by United Healthcare to United Way NC. The event consisted of live music, food and fun.

This Saturday, the downtown community is holding another concert to raise money for Wilmington.

The OverFlo Benefit Concert features five bands. Its from noon until 8 p.m. in the parking lot at 2nd Street and Market Street.

WWAY will have a live interview Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. with all you need to know about this weekend’s concert.
