Remains found in Brunswick Co. confirmed to be missing Wilmington teen


BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Investigators say human remains found earlier this month in Brunswick County are those of a teen who went missing from Wilmington several years ago.

A Brunswick County Sheriff’s spokeswoman says the remains found off Hooper Road near Leland Nov. 5 are those of Al’quon Flowers. The confirmation comes after tests on the remains by East Carolina University.

Flowers went missing in July 2011. He was was last seen on Red Cross Street in Wilmington. His cell phone was last used in Brunswick County.

The StarNews reports a federal inmate, who was a prime suspect in the disappearance, led investigators to the skeletal remains.
