Rep. Howard Coble refutes campaign ad endorsing Bobby Coffer
GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — A longtime North Carolina congressman is refuting a campaign ad run by a primary challenger to state Senate leader Phil Berger that suggests the congressman is endorsing Berger’s rival.
The campaign manager for Republican U.S. Rep. Howard Coble of Greensboro said Monday that Bobby Coffer never received permission from Coble’s campaign to run a photo of the two of them together. Lindsay Morris also said a quote attributed to Coble saying people should vote for Coffer is “completely fabricated” and that Coble supports Berger. The ad ran in a Rockingham County newspaper.
No one answered late Monday the phone number listed on Coffer’s web site.
The primary is Tuesday. Coble also faces two challengers in his 6th Congressional District primary.
