Rep. Rouzer opens district offices, talks fiscal plans
BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — As Rep. David Rouzer opened his district office in Bolivia Monday, he greeted some town leaders and constituents.
As the legislative session begins for the freshman representative, Rouzer said he supports a number of bills including border security and energy. The biggest priority, Rouzer said, is to reduce federal spending and government control.
“I think we have far too much government,” Rouzer said. “I want a government that’s efficient, effective and accountable, and the only way we are going to get that is to reduce the size of government. Government is involved in too many things and far too cumbersome.”
Rouzer, who campaigned against President Barack Obama’s agenda, said now there has to be room for negotiation on the president’s part when it comes to new legislation.
Rouzer has been forward about his agenda and some of his constituents just want this new era of representatives to stay true to the needs and wants of the people.
Ginny Quaglia, a Brunswick County resident, says she wants her representatives to work for the people.
“They are our representatives. They are to represent our wishes,” Quaglia said.
