REPORT IT: Surfer injured at Wrightsville Beach

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue had to pull a surfer from the water yesterday after witnesses say a big wave knocked him out.

Carter Rabil sent us photos of the scene near Johnnie Mercer’s Pier around 4 p.m. yesterday. He says witnesses saw the wave drive the surfer headfirst into the ocean floor.

Ocean Rescue has not returned our call for more information.
