Report: Perdue paid $140K to law firm in 6 months

RALEIGH, NC (AP) — Gov. Bev Perdue’s campaign paid more than $140,000 in the second half of 2010 to a law firm that represented her committee before the State Board of Elections on the issue of campaign flights.

The Bev Perdue Committee made the disclosure as it filed its semi-annual campaign report last week. An attorney at Wallace & Nordan in Raleigh spoke on the campaign’s behalf in August before the board. The panel fined the campaign committee $30,000 for failing to report private flights in a timely manner. State and federal investigators said later they were looking into the case.

WRAL-TV first reported on Perdue’s report, which showed she had $406,000 on hand as of Dec. 31.
