Republican kicks off 2014 Senate run in Wilmington tomorrow
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The next election for US Senate in North Carolina is still more than 20 months away, but a challenger officially joins that race tomorrow in Wilmington.
Greg Brannon, a Cary obstetrician, will officially launch his run for Senate with an event at 9 a.m. at the New Hanover County Executive Development Center on Military Cutoff Road.
The event is the start of a two-day, eight-city kickoff tour for Brannon, a Republican, who hopes to challenge incumbent Sen. Kay Hagan, a Democrat. North Carolina’s junior senator is in the middle of her first term in Washington after beating Republican Sen. Elizabeth Dole in 2008.
