Resident begins fighting flames after fire sparks near home

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two sheds caught fire in the yard of a Wilmington home early Tuesday, and one of the residents tries fighting the fire himself.

It happenend just after 1 a.m. in the 5700 Block of Park Ave.

According to fire crews, residents were home when the fire sparked nearby, and one of them tried putting out the flames with a garden hose before help arrived.

Firefighters say one of the sheds is a total loss, and the other is badly damaged.

No one was hurt, but Fire Life Safety is investigating to find what caused the flames.
